Mac Mini Review

Apparently you can fit 5 Mac Mini units into the old G4 cube enclosure! How cool is that? That and more at http://www.macworld.com/2005/01/news/minioverview/

I'll probably pick up one after Mac OS Tiger is out. $129 is the regular price of the Mac OS and iLife 05 is $79 so there's more than $200 worth of *really* good software included with the $500 mac!

Another picture: it sounds as good as the more expensive iPods and feels so light.
Here's an iPod shuffle in my hand
Hello is having trouble uploading more than one picture at a time.
MacWorld was great as usual. Got to play with the latest Apple toys. I think the Ipod shuffle is awesome. Its so light that you won't even notice its hanging around your neck. Here are some pics from yesterday.
Apple does it again! You must be sitting in a cave somewhere without electricity if you haven't already heard about the Mac mini in the news. For $500, this is way more powerful than my G4 cube. No keyboard, mouse or display though.

Snow in Vegas?

Yes believe it. It was surreal to see cars covered in snow, when I was at the airport. But again I saw the snow fall from a distance, but didn't touch the snow. So close yet so far away. With CES (Consumer Electronic Show) going on at Las vegas, all the hotels were booked out and airport was crowded. Anyways, didi(doron's wife) drops me at the airport and the lines for the ticketing section was really long. So I go, okay atleast I dont have to stand in the queue, since I had printed my ticket at office. After a long wait at the airport baggage check area, I go to my terminal to know that my flight is delayed by nearly 2 hrs. People thought it was wild that of all the places, Vegas was snowing and flights were delayed because of that.

It was snowing outside, but inside it was so hot and no place to sit, I found people getting icecreams, fraps and coke. It was so crowded, we were all sweating. Finally got a place to sit, almost everyone had their sleek looking laptops and goodies(as arvind calls it) from CES, exchanging info about whats going on in the world of electronics. People were sitting on the floor (americans are not comfortable sitting on the floor like us) feverishly typing reports, finishing expense reports, talking to their bosses/collegue abt whats going on. Finally after one and half hr delay flight arrived and two people who sat behind me would not stop talking. They discussed the CES stuff thro' the flight journey, probably half the people in the small aircraft would have heard them.

I come home, arvind is excited about what he read in his fav gadget site, http://www.engadget.com . Here I'm trying to get away from it all and just want to spend quality time with arvind, on the other hand, arvind is so excited about new electronic items released and wants to discuss it with me. I have made a decision. From now on, I will get arvind to go to las vegas everyyear to attend CES. This is his lifeline now, its like a "disney land for geeks"!! Different people, different mentality. Added perk, i heard that even "Adult Movie convention" goes on at the same time. Geeks and adult industry always go together. Don't you think?

I think after visiting vegas so many times, I'm kinda getting attached to the place.
